His highness Marcus Atolis is truly as brilliant as the stories have claimed he is. I have traveled to the new capital at his summons and have been chosen as on of twenty sculptors to create sixteen gate statues. It is a competition with each sculptor creating quarter sized versions and the best to be done in full for the gates. With this letter, and his majesty's charity, I will be arriving home shortly by skyship. For the competition we shall be moving the workshop to the new capitol, with the building to house us being built now to our needs! I know you shall miss the mountains, but the sea here is quite breathtaking and His Majesty has promised to pay for our safe return as well.
Oh the great news never ceases! In passing I mentioned the collapse of the Southern wellspring and His Majesty has decided to sent an entire engineering division to rebuild it for our village.

In the Eighth Dynasty of the Kammana, Empress Jillan was dethroned and despoiled after her champion failed to appear to a Challenge of Right. The victor of that challenge, a despot named Heronidus Atolis, not only demanded title as Emperor but for her line to be forever soiled in a heinous and secret ritual. With the scepter his Heronidus proclaimed the opening of the Atolis Dynasty. His short reign was harsh for the land, despoiling ancient groves, and putting deep gouges into the living rock. However, after thirty years his reign was finally ended after he was assassinated by a Kynling still loyal to the Kammana.

After the First Emperor Atolis was assassinated his son Marcus took the throne and immediately issued a decree to search the remaining High Fey groves for the assassin, sites without age and untouched by Man were broken and ransacked by troops under his orders. Seeking to polish his families reputation the Second Emperor Atolis began a building campaign in earnest, creating many new institutions to “help” the people. Though it has done some good to feed the low castes it still has weighed in on that lands creating chains and bureaucracy that shall not soon enough be rid of this earth. The latest crime of the Atolis family is that the current Emperor has ordered his capital be moved from the sacred isle to the mainland where a new city is to be built.
